How To Stay Motivated In Life

The Oxford Dictionary defines motivation as the willingness to achieve something in life. Scientifically motivation is something inside the brain, and anyone can learn how they can stay motivated in life. Our actions are driven by the desire of winning and achieving success.

The author of Atomic Habits James Clear, says that most people confuse motivation. They think that motivation is what makes us work and take action. In reality, motivation is often the desire to get the result of the action, not the cause of it.

An Easier Start

1. Schedule

One cause people can’t get started on things is that they don’t have any plans to do it.

When things aren’t planned it’s easier for them to fall by the side. You’ll end up expecting motivation to fall in your lap or looking for that you’ll muster enough willpower to get the action done.

Guardian said in one of his articles,

“If you waste resources trying to decide when or where to work, you’ll impede your capacity to do the work.”

2. Measure something

It’s easy to feel uninspired when you don’t know if you’re making headway or what you’re even working for. That’s why you need to make your success quantifiable in some way. Starting is easy when you know exactly know where you stand near to your current action will bring you to achieving your goal.

3. External motivation

This type of motivation comes from external activities and factors. It can be either good or bad. Good motivation consists of incentives like money, rewards, and scores. Bad motivation consists of obstacles like being fired, having a quarrel, or being punished. External motivation doesn’t work productively long-term, but it can work well in the short term to get you started on your actions.

4. Make It Public

Keep yourself understandable by telling close ones and family your aims in life, or even sharing them on social networks. This makes it easier to start working on your goals because you’re squeezed to not let others down.

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”― Eleanor Roosevelt
